The Cal Cricket Decal is a 1-unit course designed to inspire and develop aspiring cricketers at UC Berkeley. It combines lectures on the history and cultural significance of cricket with practical sessions focused on essential skills like batting, bowling, and fielding, starting with the basic fundamentals. The course is for people with all levels of exposure to cricket, with a focus on beginners. The course also emphasizes leadership and teamwork, preparing students to take on coaching roles and excel in the sport.
There are no exams or papers; instead, students will complete a final 10-minute presentation on a cricket-related topic of their choice. The course is graded on a Pass/No Pass basis, with students required to attend at least 9 of the 12 classes, participate actively, and complete the final project. Attendance is crucial for skill development, with up to 3 absences allowed.
This course offers a well-rounded introduction to cricket, balancing theory with hands-on practice to foster a deep appreciation and proficiency in the sport. Please email at shubhankarnaik@berkeley.edu with any questions!
