Breaking Down BioE DeCal [2 Units P/NP]
Breaking Down BioE (BDB) explores the four concentrations of Berkeley’s undergraduate bioengineering program: Biomedical Devices, Biomedical Imaging, Synthetic & Computational Biology, and Cell & Tissue Engineering. Students will learn from guest speakers, student panels, journal clubs, and lab tours, and develop skills including resume building, interviewing, and presenting. Students are allowed to miss two classes in total (with exceptions for special circumstances, e.g., midterms or athletic events).
During the class, there will be assignments in the form of journal clubs where there will be discussions about takeaways from a scientific paper and questions for students to answer. It will be graded for completion. In addition, students will have the chance to present a paper of their choosing with groups to a panel of Berkeley bioengineering alumni.
BDB is a great opportunity for new students to find a community within Berkeley and bioengineering! The class will be held on Mondays, 2:00-4:00 PM in SOCS180 starting on Monday, September 8th. Please fill out this form
