This course is a technical introduction to the field of neurotechnology. We introduce and dive deep into the various topics that neurotechnology encompasses, including but not limited to neuroscience, signal processing, machine learning, brain-computer interfaces, and data science.
Upon completion of this course, students can expect to have developed a deep understanding of the brain from an academic and medical perspective. More importantly, students will be able to draw upon various techniques from signal processing and machine learning (using Python) to gather and analyze brain data, as well as build interfaces between humans and computers. Lastly, we want our students to think deeply about the “big picture” behind neurotech -- why does this field exist and how does it change what it means to be human?
Students will learn through live lectures, homework (readings along with coding exercises in Jupyter notebooks), presentations, and a technical final project.
