This DeCal is an interactive, interdisciplinary class focusing broadly on problems challenging local and global healthcare. Course topics will include an overview of healthcare in America and internationally, how is care administered in conflict/war zones, climate change’s connection to public health, etc. In addition to introducing students to a wide array of public health issues, the class will include guest lecturers coming in as well.
This class is a great opportunity to learn about a new public health issue every week and no prior background is necessary! In addition to our class meeting for 1 hour a week, weekly homework will include a brief response to the articles that we have chosen for that week. We will end the course with student presentations during our final week of class.
In terms of attendance, we plan to be having most of our classes in person, however, some will be over Zoom. It is expected that you do attend the classes, however, if you cannot make it you will be expected to notify us beforehand unless an emergency arises.
We will meet Thursday 6-7 PM mainly in Physics but some classes will be online. The first day of class is 02/13 and the course enrollment code is 28633 for Lower Division and 28675 for Upper Division!
