This course explores the intersection of sports therapy and neurology, focusing on how physical exercise and sports-based rehabilitation can aid in the treatment and recovery of individuals with neurological conditions. Through a mix of in person lectures, guest speakers, assignments and projects, students will gain a deeper understanding of the scientific basis behind sports therapy interventions and their applications for conditions such as Parkinson's disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis, and more.
The course will consist of Bi weekly quizzes and a final project where groups will be given a detailed client profile and have to create a rehabilitation plan designed for the client. There are no papers or exams for this class. Lecture attendance is mandatory.
