This decal serves as a way for students to explore the intersectionality of two specialties - internal medicine and preventative medicine. This course introduces various internal medicine subspecialties while placing emphasis on the role of preventive medicine strategies within each. In order to better support the increasing demand and shortage of physicians, we must concentrate on the common causes of preventable diseases and deduce how the future of healthcare can generate increased accessibility to these services. Over the course of thirteen weeks, general internal medicine, cardiology, medical oncology, gastroenterology, somnology, and endocrinology will be introduced through lecture based instruction supplemented with guest speakers from each speciality.
This course is 1-unit and structured on pre-lecture readings, attendance, and post lecture reflections. If you are interested in a future as a healthcare practitioner, this decal serves as a great introduction to medicine and its integrated public health framework.
