Nutrition and Well-Being will teach students about basic nutrition and inform them about resources on campus that can help with their nutrition goals and needs. This course aims to provide students with basic nutrition education and the role that food choices play in leading a healthy lifestyle. In addition, this course will help students gain an understanding on sustainable food choices as well as delving into topics regarding community nutrition. This course will seek to form a relationship between food and its impacts on the body, in regards to how to live a clean and balanced lifestyle into one’s future. As a result of taking this course, students will be able to apply nutrition concepts into their everyday lives and be more knowledgeable about the intrinsic relationship between food and how it affects one’s well being. Not only will students learn how to eat a balanced diet, but one that is sustainable for
themselves. This class is synchronous. Readings and assignments will be assigned one week before they are due. There is one hour of lecture every week. There are supplemental readings and homework assigned relating to the topics taught in class. There is one final project that students will be presenting at the end of the course. Attendance is mandatory, but please let the facilitator know if you are not able to come to class.
