Ever heard of quantitative finance or algorithmic trading? This decal is your chance to explore the intersection of math, finance, and technology. Majors of all technical backgrounds are welcome!
You'll dive into the fundamentals of financial markets, learn about different asset classes, and explore the roles of various firms. The course will cover trading strategies and their basis in math such as probability and game theory, using programming and data science to discover profitable approaches, and software engineering techniques that speed up trades. Whether you're new to the topic or looking to deepen your understanding, this class will equip you with the knowledge to navigate the world of quantitative finance.
Assignments include trading strategy Jupyter HWs, game theory analyses, writing python bots to compete against each other, content quizzes, and a group final project.
Note: This decal does not focus on teaching how to "day-trade" or make quick profits on platforms like Robinhood. Making money this way is extremely challenging, and many strategies found online are questionable. Instead, this course focuses on what traders and researchers do at quantitative finance firms, such as market makers, hedge funds, or proprietary trading firms. Whether or not you're aiming for a career in this field, you'll gain insights into the appeal of quantitative finance, how to enter the industry, and important market concepts like market efficiency!
