What makes Columbo special? How could a show where you know who the murderer is capture the attention of an audience for so many years? How are there still so many references to Columbo in detective media today? Through in-class screenings and discussion, we will seek to answer these questions together!
Our class meets once a week on Wednesdays, and each class will have an in-class screening of an episode of Columbo and a discussion afterwards. The homework is usually watching an episode, taking notes, and writing a discussion post before the next class. We will have two papers- one is a more traditional analytical paper, due halfway through the semester, and the other is a semester-long creative project we will work on in class as well.
