Navigating the different professional opportunities and how to access them can be challenging. Geared towards students from a wide variety of majors, this course aims to unveil the basics of how to leverage a student’s Berkeley degree to recruit for the professional world to increase access and equity. Students will work through different modules that each target a different category of career. Through hands-on workshops, guest speakers, and detailed coursework, Careers in Economics, Business & Beyond will provide a 360-degree view of navigating the professional world and how to succeed in it.
Topics will include building a resume, writing a cover letter, and growing a network. Careers we plan to cover include consulting, finance (investment banking + buy side), tech (software engineering + product management), marketing, entrepreneurship, law, and more. We'll also be surveying the class to see if there are additional areas of interest.
Papers/exams: There are no exams in the course. Expect very short weekly assignments or readings. There will be a two-page "final" reflection at the end of the course. All work is graded on completion and effort.
Attendance Policy: All students are expected to attend classes regularly, promptly, and for the duration of the scheduled instructional time. Repeated unexcused absences may result in a grade of "NP" for the course. Be prepared with necessary materials and be present/productive the whole class time.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
