About the Course
Introduction to Psychedelic Science will give students a survey knowledge of the growing field of Psychedelic Science. This DeCal examines Psychedelic Science through neurobiological, psychological, mycological, and anthropological perspectives, simultaneously weaving our discussion into the history and culture of psychedelics across the globe.
Classtime consists of one hour of lecture from a guest speaker and one hour of Q&A with that speaker, for a total block of two hours.
Readings will be assigned each week, to be read in advance of class. These readings provide students with an introduction to the guest speaker and topic of the coming week’s lecture. They serve to deepen the student’s understanding of the material and cultivate excitement and engagement with the speaker.
There are 4 total graded assignments given in the course of a semester. The first three assignments will be reflections pertaining to a specific lecturer or topic, and the final one will be a creative project. Each reflection is worth 10% of a final grade while the final project is worth 20%. Attendance and participation are worth 50% of the final grade.
