The Intro to AI Safety DeCal provides a high-level understanding of the AI alignment problem and some of the key research directions which aim to solve it. Students will learn about the risks associated with using advanced AI systems, the difficulties inherent to addressing them, and the current state of research regarding solutions.

This is an introductory course, so prior familiarity with ideas and material in the field of AI Safety is not required but we expect applicants to have baseline experience in CS and linear algebra/multivariable calculus to be able to engage with material covered in the class.
