This course is designed to explore the multifaceted challenges facing African economies and to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of strategies and policies that can be employed to regain control over economic resources, foster sustainable development, and ultimately reclaim economic power. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge, case studies, and practical exercises, participants will gain the tools and insights necessary to contribute to the economic transformation of the African continent. Students will learn material through weekly lectures and assigned readings. No prerequisites are required. Prior knowledge of macroeconomics or economic development may be beneficial. Attendance is required and students are allowed two unexcused absences in the semester. Students will be graded on their reading responses and final project.
