The Berkeley Scientific Journal (BSJ) is Cal’s undergraduate science journal. We were initially founded in 1996 in order to provide undergraduates with an official forum on which to publish their research. Since then, we have expanded; our journal still provides an avenue for undergraduates to publish their own research, but the majority of our writing staff is now dedicated to writing articles that break down complex scientific concepts for the Berkeley community. Every semester, our undergraduate staff publishes faculty-reviewed independent research done by Cal undergrads, interviews with leading researchers across the world, and articles on current issues in science. Furthermore, as a student of the BSJ DeCal, members will not only join our writing staff but will also have the opportunity to apply to intern in our Layout, Copy, and Publicity & Finance department.
Attendance in the DeCal, held Mondays from 6-8 PM, is mandatory for members. Please email us at bsj.berkeley@gmail.com if you have any specific questions or concerns about our attendance policy.
