CAMP (College Admissions Mentorship Program) is formerly known as PTPS (People’s Test Preparation Service) which is a student org and decal that provides free SAT prep classes to low-income high school students since 1995. We rebranded this semester to CAMP because we are pivoting our services from teaching SAT to mentoring students in college admissions due to the fact that SAT is phasing out.
Our proposed format for "Mentors" is as follows:
1) You mentor a small group of high school students (2 hour class) weekly with a standard curriculum that we have designed, covering topics such as how to write college admissions essay, how to choose which colleges to apply, financial aid, drafting the Common App/UC app, etc. You will commute weekly to the high school site or teach on campus at UC Berkeley.
2) You attend weekly decals to connect with other mentors and learn about the curriculum and tips to be a great mentor. Attendance will be taken and it is mandatory. There will be a final project at the end of the semester where students will present what they learned in a presentation format.
No day(s) left until application deadline!
