Course Overview:
What implications do new genetic technologies have for human kind, for us, for me?
This course is designed to help students ask and discuss these questions. Students will gain an understanding of the past, present and future of the field of genetics. They will also learn about genetic technologies, such as genome sequencing and CRISPR-Cas9. The rest of the course will build upon this knowledge and consider the different societal and ethical implications of these new technologies. Students will have a chance to discuss topics that are important to them and that affect them personally. This course is designed to be interactive, discussion-based, and accessible for students from all majors. Classes will consist of short lectures, guest speakers, movies, debates and discussions.

Grading Policy:
This course will be graded on a P/NP basis. Students must receive at least a 70% to pass the class, the breakdown is as follows:
Attendance & Participation: 60%
Assignments & Discussion: 30%
Final Presentation: 10%
