Robot Autonomous Racing DeCal is a course dedicated to teaching students to gain a holistic view about building a high-performance fully-autonomous 1/10 scale RC car from scratch. The course is built on the matured Berkeley BARC platform in the ME Department and the ROAR platform and its racing events in the EECS Department.
The purpose of the course is to offer a condensed yet exciting introduction to the topics of autonomous driving, 3D printing industrial design, and virtual reality. Students will build up their skills from the ground up by adding different software and hardware modules to customize its performance. The course is aimed at all undergraduate students who are interested in learning the basics about Autonomous Driving, 3D Printing, and Virtual Reality, and participating in ROAR racing competitions.
Mode of Instruction: Pre-recorded Lectures with Synchronous OH
Structure of Grade: 25% Checkpoints, 50% Homework, 25% Final Presentation
COVID Adaptation: Simulate Autonomous racing through CARLA (online)
