Rent, taxes, eating healthy, taking care of yourself, living a stress-free life - what do these things all have in common? These are life skills that are not taught in the classroom but are essential for living adequate and fulfilling lives.
The school system does not require a class for students to learn how to live in the real world and function as an adult. We often enter college unprepared to take care of ourselves. Many life skills, including how to develop good habits, manage stress, pay taxes, and find housing, are necessary, especially when college is the bridge to adulthood. This course will explore the many dimensions of how to successfully adult.
Some classes may be out-of-the-classroom, as you will be actively engaging in the adulting skills as you learn them. However, a majority of the time, the class is structured around discussions on the articles read at home, guest speakers, and lectures. Students will practice applying adulting concepts learned in class by answering discussion questions after each session and will have a mid-semester reflection paper as well as an oral presentation due at the end of the course.
You MUST attend all sessions unless given further notice (allowed 1 unexcused absence).
